A dauber is a small brush used to apply polish to leather. The dauber is usually about 3/4 to 1 inch in diameter, with a side handle and medium-length, medium-stiffness bristles.

Daubers are not stricly necessary to apply polish as rags and bare hands can often be used to greater advantage. However, daubers can be very useful for applying cream-type polishes and for certain colors (particularly brown) that would stain skin.
